Top Best Premier League Goalkeepers This Season — Lammens’ Impact Explained

Thanks to the fantastic FBREF, we have ranked Premier League goalkeepers using the PSxG minus goals allowed metric.
“What’s all this for?” is a reasonable question. Expected goals depending on the goalkeeper’s likelihood of saving the shot are known as post-shot expected goals.
The numbers below are obtained by subtracting the number of goals they have given up. Positive numbers indicate higher luck or above-average shot-stopping abilities, according to FBREF.

Here is the performance of the Premier League goalkeepers so far this season, excluding those who have played three or more games. Here is the 2024–2025 goalie of the year.
19) Altay Bayindir (-1.6)
Club: (Manchester United)
Apparently, nobody, not even Ruben Amorim, thinks Bayindir is a credible No. 1. dropped for the victories over Liverpool and Sunderland, where Senne Lammens entered the game and gave up just one goal from a PSxG of 3.3.
The Belgian would rank third on this list, but he won’t be able to qualify until Saturday’s match against Brighton.
18) Alphonse Areola (-1.3)
Club: (West Ham)
After Mads Hermansen had a difficult start to his Hammers career, Areola returned to the team and performed as expected against Arsenal after recording bad stats in the draw and loss to Palace.
17) Emiliano Martinez -0.7
Club: (Aston Villa)
After flirting with Manchester United during the summer, Martinez was gradually mending fences with Villa supporters, which was helpful since his team had lost their ability to score goals.
The Argentina star was pulled into a shoving fight under a corner, and his late movement allowed a header that may have been saved to bounce through his legs.
However, the goal he let up to Burnley has given him a negative number here.
16) Robert Sanchez (-0.7)
Club: (Chelsea)
Sanchez’s actions hardly matter because everyone has already determined that Chelsea needs an upgrade. And they’re probably right. The club has a keeper who could be useful.
15) Bernd Leno (-0.6)
Club: (Fulham)
Leno had an outstanding start to the season and was recovering from a bad season by his own high standards, but losses to Villa and Bournemouth have cost the German a lot in this specific category.
Justin Kluivert’s winner seemed unavoidable, but Bournemouth’s first from what should have been an impossible-tight angle went through Leno.
14) Alisson Becker (-0.5)
Club: (Liverpool)
Although it didn’t help Liverpool much, the Liverpool goalie improved his position in this measure at Palace before suffering a setback in the following match at Galatasaray.
Liverpool needs Alisson back as soon as possible because of their difficulties keeping a clean sheet.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is currently on -1.3 despite having only played two games—one more is required for him to be on this list.
13) Jordan Pickford (0.1)
Club: (Everton)
Pickford, one of three goalkeepers this season to avoid a penalty, only needs to avoid a slump in form to lead England into the World Cup.
12) David Raya (+0.2)
Club: (Arsenal)
No keeper has saved a higher percentage of the shots he’s faced than Raya’s 83.3%. For the last two games, he need not have bothered with gloves since Arsenal deprived both Fulham and West Ham of a single shot on target.
11) Gianluigi Donnarumma (+0.3)
Club: (Manchester City)
Gianluigi Donnarumma has solidified his role as Manchester City’s top goalkeeper in the 2024/25 season, surpassing expectations and leaving James Trafford in a tough spot.
Despite his reputation as a world-class keeper, some still question his handling of high crosses, yet he’s thrived in his Premier League debut.
10) Nick Pope (+0.5)
Club: (Newcastle)
Aaron Ramsdale is being kept on the bench since the team has a joint-best Premier League record of five clean sheets in seven games.
Though the statistic won’t draw attention to his error in giving Arsenal the ball back before their late winner, he did increase his PSxG versus Arsenal.
8) Bart Verbruggen (+0.8)
Club: (Brighton)
Despite having a terrible season the previous year, Verbruggen was linked to teams like Bayern Munich again in the summer.
After a more shaky start to the season, he has appeared more like a custodian in recent weeks who may attract the attention of the big boys.
7) Sam Johnstone (+0.8)
Club: (Wolves)
Johnstone has outperformed Jose Sa at Wolves, proving more consistent in goal. Despite being caught out by Sunderland’s opening goal, he remains a reliable presence for the 2024/25 season.
6) Matz Sels (+0.9)
Club: (Nottingham Forest)
With Big John breathing down his neck and Burnley allowing more shots on goal than Forest, the Golden Glove award co-winner from the previous season needs to be at the top of his game this season. Making his goalie less active is Sean Dyche’s first task.
5) Guglielmo Vicario (+1.1)
Club: (Tottenham Hotspur)
Only three goalkeepers have registered more saves so far this season, and he was just as busy guarding the net throughout the last campaign.
4) Martin Dubravka (+1.3)
Club: (Burnley)
Dubravka, who took Trafford’s place at Burnley as a clean sheet machine, has started off well at Turf Moor. He has faced three more shots than any other goalie, which is helpful.
3) James Trafford (+1.9)
Club: (Manchester City)
Trafford did a great job at the top of this ranking after the first three games.
However, the way he surrendered Tottenham the ball prior to their pivotal second goal at the Etihad on his home debut for his beloved club would not be taken into consideration by the PSxG stat.
2) Robin Roefs (+2.6)
Club: (Sunderland)
Robin had the same rate as enderson and now everyone is beginning to nod in agreement as Sunderland supporters rave about Roefs following his debut on Wearside. Only David Raya has given up less goals among the constants.
1) Dean Henderson (+2.6)
Club: (Crystal Palace)
Despite giving up three goals to Bournemouth, Henderson has moved up to share the top spot in the rankings. In the past two games, he has given up two more goals than in the six games prior.
