Sir Jim Ratcliffe Blocks Surprise Barcelona Transfer Move as Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd Plans Take a Hit

Ruben Amorim is keen to bring Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski to Old Trafford next summer, but Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a co-owner of Manchester United, has turned down the club’s offer.
The Poland forward’s current contract with Barcelona ends at the end of the current campaign, and it seems unlikely that the Catalan powerhouses will extend it, making him a free agent.
The Mirror claims that when Lewandowski’s Barcelona contract ended next summer, Amorim was eager to bring the seasoned forward to Old Trafford.

There has been no discussion of an extension between the Catalan club and the Poland great, who is in the last year of his current contract.
This is a strong indication that the Spanish champions do not intend to keep the player over the 2025–2026 season.
Amorim sought a seasoned player who could motivate the team’s youth and add objectives, like Lewandowski, in the locker room.
However, the article also states that Ratcliffe has turned down Amorim’s request since he is adamantly opposed to signing players who are nearing the end of their playing careers.
United has previously pursued big-name players like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Edinson Cavani, Raphael Varane, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Cristiano Ronaldo, but none of these acquisitions have been successful for the team and have instead cost the club millions of pounds in wages and transfer fees.
Lewandowski, who is 37 years old, earns approximately £540,000 every week, making him one of the highest-paid football players in the world.
Barcelona, who are still having financial difficulties and have frequently had trouble registering players while adhering to La Liga regulations, would be greatly relieved by Lewandowski’s departure.
Lewandowski is not a viable choice for United given their own problems managing their crushing finances.
Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi recently gave 365Scores a significant clue about the striker’s future amid rumours surrounding his status at Barcelona: “No decisions have been taken yet, and Lewandowski’s contract with Barcelona expires in the summer of 2026. We’ll just have to wait and watch what occurs over the next few days.
“There’s nothing official regarding negotiations with Saudi Arabian teams,” Zahavi said, dismissing speculations that Lewandowski might join the Saudi Pro League. There aren’t any offers right now.
With Ferran Torres adjusting to a key role under Hansi Flick this season, it has been reported that the Catalan powerhouses have begun preparing for life beyond their star striker, even though Lewandowski’s future is still up in the air.
Even though Sporting director Deco recently declared that Barcelona would not want to hire a replacement right away, stories of Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, and Etta Eyong are still coming in.
Robert Lewandowski will not be available For The El Clasico Match

Barcelona is facing numerous injury setbacks as the season’s first El Clasico draws near. Robert Lewandowski will not play in Sunday’s intense match at Santiago Bernabeu, and they are already without the services of outstanding winger Raphinha.
After telling Barca about the problems with his left leg, Lewandowski was sent for medical testing and returned from international duty with an injury following the October break.
He will need some time to recuperate and will miss El Clasico, it was subsequently revealed.
“Robert Lewandowski has sustained a hamstring injury in his left thigh,” Barcelona said in the statement. His recuperation period will be determined by the course of his injury.
So far in the 2025–26 season, the Poland striker has made nine appearances and scored four goals. He has goals against Oviedo and Real Sociedad in addition to a brace against Valencia.
He has also scored two goals for Poland this season, the most recent one against Lithuania during the October international break.
Flick is expected to start Torres as his No. 9 against Madrid in Lewandowski’s absence, with Marcus Rashford and Lamine Yamal playing from the two flanks.
