Postecoglou’s comments expose Nottingham Forest boss as completely out of touch with reality

Would you all please quit viewing Ange Postecoglou through your own “prisms” for heaven’s sake? He has his own unique “prism,” which will allow you to see and celebrate him as the trophy-winning, misunderstood management guru that he is, okay?
With five losses and two draws in his seven games as manager, Postecoglou is heavily trailing Nottingham Forest.
According to reports, Saturday’s lunchtime match against Chelsea may be his final game.

Evangelos Marinakis is prepared to use the axe to cut down a second Forest tree in as many weeks, considering Sean Dyche as a potential replacement for Postecoglou, who is now portraying himself as a social outcast rather than just a manager incapable of winning a football match.
Postecoglou remarked, “I guess from my perspective I just don’t fit, not here, just in general,” to a room full of journalists who were both horrified by the headline-grabbing quote he had given them and completely perplexed by what the fucking hell he was talking about. Unsuitable for the Premier League? Football? Here on Earth? What?
“I know you’re smirking at me, but if you see things from the perspective that I am a failing manager who is fortunate to have this job, then it is obvious that this guy is under pressure throughout the first five weeks. However, there is another story.
“I took over at Tottenham two years ago after joining the Premier League, and the chairman, Daniel Levy, told me that this team needed to win a trophy.”
We’ve tried to bring in winners like Antonio Conte and Jose [Mourinho], but it hasn’t worked, he remarked. Something different is what we need. Since I consider myself the winner, I was a little irritated by that.
“I took over Spurs, who came in ninth place. Great club, but they don’t have European football, and they can’t endure two years without it. In my first year, we came in fifth place, and each time Harry Kane scores for Bayern after leaving Spurs, I think, “I wish he stayed just one more year.”
He would have been useful after coming in sixth. However, that [first] year has vanished from the records for some reason.
Even Tottenham chose to omit the first 10 games, which was given as justification for my termination. But supposedly, the first ten games here [at Forest] are crucial.
We would wager that Ange is only considering the “prism” of his first ten games as Spurs’ Premier League manager, which saw them top the table with 26 points, rather than his final 66 games, in which they won 78 points more than Wolves (76)—among the teams that have stayed in the top flight during that time.
Nevertheless, we came in fifth. A team like Tottenham should be playing in Europe, and I helped them get back there. We need a trophy because it will mean the world to the football team, I was informed at [post-season] discussions. That’s okay.
A trophy is awarded to us. We no longer go by the moniker “Spursy.” We get to play Champions League football, which has its benefits and gives us the chance to bring in better players. However, all I’ve heard since leaving Tottenham is that we came in 17th place the previous season.
Hold on, haven’t we got the incorrect “prism” again?
Therefore, if you consider finishing 17th, I am a manager who failed and am fortunate to have another chance. But again, if I have to explain why we finished 17th, it’s extremely fundamental. It need not be very detailed.
“You can see what I prioritised [the Europa League] and who was on the bench by looking at the last five or six team sheets from the previous season.”
We acknowledge that Postecoglou’s decision to ignore the Premier League and concentrate on the Europa League over the final weeks of the season was perfectly understandable, but after 32 games, Tottenham was in 14th place, two points ahead of West Ham in 17th.
It’s not as if the change in focus caused a sharp decline in the table. Who is creating this man’s “prisms”?
And the players went out partying for two days after the last game against Brighton, which I approved of because I thought they earned it. We did, in fact, finish 17th. But I believe that individuals are viewing it through the lens of “I just don’t fit” if they believe that to be a reflection on me and my coaching.
By now, he had completely lost sight of the “prisms.” The flawed “prisms” are somehow skewing the picture of a football team with the fifth-highest squad market worth ending 17th to reflect adversely on his coaching abilities, after he stated it was his own that demonstrated he doesn’t fit.
We now arrive to Forest, where there is a different story to tell. Perhaps I am a manager who, given enough time, always comes out on top, rather than a manager who failed and was fortunate to land this position. It always ends with me with a trophy at all of my former clubs.
Postecoglou’s astounding whataboutery basically says that he will win Nottingham Forest a trophy provided the team’s supporters are prepared to put up with some of the worst in the Premier League.
But wouldn’t that be typical in the second season? If you see it through the “prism” of wanting to remain in the Premier League, then he is undoubtedly a failed manager; yet, this “prism” depicts us winning the Championship.
