Pep Guardiola makes shock Lionel Messi comparison after Man City star’s incredible form – and it’s not Haaland

Everybody knows Messi is one of the best Pep guardiola favourite, even picked him as his number 1 GOAT(GREATEST OF ALL TIME). HE has said this in different interview, even in the dressing room when lecturing his players.

He has compared Bernardo Silva to Lionel Messi, in addition to Erling Haaland, despite the fact that the manager is currently dealing with a fresh midfield ailment.

Tuesday night, Man City defeated Villarreal 2-0 on the road to make it two wins out of three in the Champions League.

After Rico Lewis set him up, Haaland scored the first goal in the seventeenth minute with a close-range right-footed effort. Haaland has now scored in 12 straight games across all competitions.

In the 40th minute, Silva received a cross from Savinho and headed a bullet past Villarreal keeper Luiz Junior to increase City’s lead.

According to ESPN, Guardiola stated, “I’m happy that Bernardo scored with his head and that Erling scored again.”

Villarreal was left in 29th place after their second Champions League loss of the season, and they had no response. On the other hand, City has positioned themselves well for advancement and currently holds the fifth spot.

Guardiola praised club captain Silva after City won three straight games in all competitions, even drawing comparisons to Argentine great Lionel Messi.

It reminded me of Messi, I recall. It resembles a hammer. The hammer is in their neck. They have excellent head contact despite their small size. “I am happy that we won.

They had some excellent opportunities, and Villarreal is a very talented team. “The atmosphere is positive, and the first half was excellent. We made a strong threat and scored when it mattered most.

After Haaland inked a huge new contract with City in January, Guardiola remarked of the Norwegian: “He is similar to Leo in terms of numbers and scoring goals.”

They are distinct players, but you can’t make comparisons. Leo is a versatile player that can do anything for his teammates. It isn’t comparable. Though their pattern and physique is similar, but u can’t just compare them.

Pep has even once said, “I have never seen any player like Messi in my life, he create chances, he attack and score goals.”

After finishing 22nd in the first phase of the UCL last season and losing to Real Madrid in the elimination round play-offs, City is in a far better position this year.

Guardiola continued, “We had [injured] players in the hospital last season, which is different.”

“After 70 minutes of playing every three games, our 15 or 16 players were starting to get tired.”

There have been numerous problems in midfield, despite the fact that the City team is in a far stronger position overall this time.

After recovering from an ACL injury near the close of the previous season, Rodri has since experienced hamstring and knee problems.

This season, Nico Gonzalez has done well in Rodri’s place; but, early in the second half against Villarreal, he hobbled out with what appeared to be a knee injury.

In Spain, Mateo Kovacic took Nico’s place, but he has only recently recovered from a chronic Achilles ailment and is still working on being fully fit for games.

These injuries have made Guardiola realise that, despite Tijjani Reijnders’ summer arrival, City has to re-enter the transfer market in order to get a new midfield player.

It was recently revealed that City and Chelsea are competing for what is undoubtedly the best defensive midfield player in the Premier League at the moment.

The Cityzens have also reportedly expressed interest in Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid and Aleksandar Pavlovic of Bayern Munich.

Macity is currently in the market for another midfield

According to reports, City has joined the running for a Portuguese midfielder known as the “new Kaka.”

Guardiola may make a significant move next summer because he has a great deal of familiarity with Barca from his time there as a manager and player. Guardiola is rumoured to have “contacted” a top Barcelona full-back about signing him.
