Florian Wirtz to Real Madrid? Liverpool exit rumours spark stunning new twist

A former Barcelona player has added considerable weight to the rumours that Real Madrid is seriously considering raiding Liverpool for Florian Wirtz in January, but insiders have highlighted why the most recent wild theory is completely unfounded.

By paying a British record amount of £116 million to bring Wirtz to Anfield this summer, the Premier League champions swept past teams like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

This record only lasted for 73 days, as Liverpool then signed Alexander Isak from Newcastle for £125 million.

Although Premier League viewers at the time applauded Liverpool’s raid on Bayer Leverkusen for the Germany playmaker, some sour remarks appeared to have come from the Bayern Munich end after they were unable to close a deal.

Wirtz hasn’t exactly gotten off to a fast start at Anfield, though. Additionally, after helping Hugo Ektike score in the Community Shield loss to Crystal Palace on penalties, he has now gone nine games without scoring or providing an assist.

Speculation regarding Wirtz’s future at Anfield has increased as he was again left out of the starting lineup by Arne Slot for their most recent game, a 2-1 loss to Chelsea.

Strangely, according to a report released on Friday, Real Madrid has been closely monitoring his development in anticipation of a possible 2026 rescue effort.

Emmanuel Petit, a former player for Arsenal and Barcelona, has now added credence to those rumours by asserting that Xavi Alonso is prepared to try to recruit Wirtz on loan in January.

“I’ve heard that Xabi Alonso respects Florian Wirtz as a player so much that he wants Real Madrid to watch him before a potential loan in January,” Petit told BoyleSports.

Alonso is aware of his abilities, and other German players have supported him. Wirtz recently told the media that he is not in a panic.

“He is aware of his talent and thinks it will eventually be evident on the pitch.” He will find it quite difficult to handle the pressure and criticism if it doesn’t, therefore I sincerely hope it does.

As analysts consider the “flop” label, Liverpool will not allow Wirtz to go at this time

Xabi Alonso, Wirtz’s current Real Madrid manager and mentor at Bayer, will undoubtedly be monitoring his former protégé’s development, but it does not imply a January signing is being considered.

In addition to a new squad and system, Liverpool always anticipated that Wirtz would have to adjust to a new language and culture.

Although it seems like he might have anticipated a goal or an assist thus far, he has arguably been unlucky not to have at least one, since some teammates have squandered some excellent opportunities the German has generated.

Consequently, Liverpool has no intention of letting the player go just yet, and a January transfer is categorically ruled out, which makes Petit’s proposal appear, to put it plainly, absurd.

Prior to the match at Stamford Bridge, we learnt that Wirtz might be benched, and this story in the days leading up to the match clarified Slot’s justification.

Teamtalk reporter Dean Jones did, however, also clarify how and why Slot is willing to take a patient stance with the player.

There is a lot of talk about Wirtz at the moment, of course, but Jones said, “The people who matter around Liverpool seem to be completely supportive of him and are making sure he is not feeling burdened by his part so far.”

It has undoubtedly been a slower start than he would have preferred, and he will be left out of the starting lineup in some upcoming games.

But because he doesn’t want Wirtz to feel like he’s failing, Slot will be extremely cautious about how he handles this right now.

Determining how to maximise his summer acquisition from the system he plays at Liverpool is part of the dilemma.

There were always some doubts about how he would fit into the system when he was signed, and that has undoubtedly contributed to the issue. They are attempting to resolve the issue and must locate areas in which he can flourish.

“Unlocking him will elevate the team to a new level because he is an exceptionally talented, intelligent, and quick-thinking player.” But playing him over and over again doesn’t appear to be helping them right now.

On October 19, following the international break, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him on the bench against Chelsea or Manchester United.

However, Slot will ensure that it is evident that he is still supporting his success even in that case.

Regarding Wirtz, following his most recent national team appearance in midweek, the midfielder received some harsh criticism and was jeered by supporters. One tabloid savagely claimed that the star “didn’t succeed with anything.”

A journalist for Sky Sports has revealed that the three clubs are all ahead of Liverpool in the transfer race, but Oliver Glasner has now formally confirmed that Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi will not sign a new contract at Selhurst Park and will leave the team in 2026, most likely on a free transfer.

Last but not least, according to a shocking story, Liverpool is preparing an offer of €75 million plus add-ons for a Spain winger they want to recruit before his price soars at the World Cup the next year.
