Five big Manchester United positives from Tottenham draw as stars finally ‘buy into’ Amorim’s system

After the Red Devils held Tottenham to a 2-2 draw on Saturday, Ally McCoist and former Manchester United custodian Ben Foster have noted several encouraging aspects.
After goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Mathys Tel earlier in the game, Spurs believed they had won when Richarlison gave Thomas Frank’s team the lead in second half injury time.
However, Matthijs de Ligt scored in the sixth minute of injury time to save a point at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and maintain Manchester United’s winning streak of five Premier League games.
Both teams’ performances disappointed many spectators, but McCoist and Foster can see the improvements in recent weeks.
McCoist highlighted Amad Diallo and Patrick Dorgu for their strong performances against Tottenham and believes that Manchester United is now “harder to play against,” “better in forward areas,” and more resilient.
In an interview with talkSPORT host Jeff Stelling, McCoist stated: “I also think Jeff, in times gone by they wouldn’t have got the point.” There seems to be more to them, in my opinion. They are much more complex.

It must be mentioned that the final product is miles away. However, they appear to be a little more difficult to defeat and, in my opinion, look better in forward positions.
“I thought Dorgu played well and Amad played really, really well. These were some good performances.” Cunha and Mbeumo have already been suggested.
At this early stage, those two in particular seem like they’re thriving in that kind of setting, and I believe they’re two fantastic new additions who can manage it—not even handle it.
“There must be a lot of positives from Manchester United at this early stage, but there is still a lot of work to be done.”
However, I understand what you’re saying. They’re disappointed that they’re understanding the point, but I don’t think they were last season.
Former custodian Ben Foster responded, “Yeah, I think Ally’s probably just said everything that needed to be said right there,” when asked if he had noticed a shift in mindset at Manchester United.
They appear OK, but I only saw the game on TV. They appear to be playing much more confidently, and they have done so for the majority of this season.
However, I believe it’s clear that there is still a long way to go when you compare it to the calibre of Man City, for instance, last night.
“I think that’s in a nutshell, mate, I really do,” McCoist continued. There have undoubtedly been improvements, in my opinion. The optimism around Manchester United makes sense, in my opinion.
Therefore, there should be some little steps, but they are still a long way from the big leaps required to reach the level of Manchester City, which we witnessed yesterday.
However, I still believe that Amorim is a much superior speaker. Additionally, I believe that coming out and essentially supporting him for a few years was a fantastic way to let everyone know that he’s going to be there for a while.

Furthermore, I believe that the players’ awareness that he will be there for some time is just as significant as the fans’ knowledge.
“I think people simply tend to forget that the Premier League is actually really hard,” Foster went on. To be quite honest, the Premier League’s overall quality is really challenging, and it can be challenging to put a series of games together.
“We say it all over the Premier League, but it’s really, really difficult to put together a run of games where you’re winning consistently.”
Thus, sometimes all you need to do is make sure you don’t lose. Additionally, I believe that Manchester United would not have won that match earlier in the season.
“They wouldn’t have had the motivation to go and actively look for that equaliser. I believe it’s the players’ altered mindset. According to what the management is saying, they are all beginning to support it.
To be fair, he has been repeating this for the better part of the year, but I believe it is finally permeating the players, and you can see that you get better outcomes when guys play with that belief, positivism, and confidence.
