Dwight Yorke insists Liverpool are now ‘the hunted’ as he shuts down talk of Salah’s age decline

According to Manchester United veteran Dwight Yorke, Liverpool is struggling with “becoming the hunted” after winning the Premier League title the previous season.
When Manchester United defeated the Reds 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday, they suffered their fourth straight defeat. Arne Slot’s team is now four points behind Premier League champions Arsenal.
Prior to the international break, Liverpool had a five-point advantage at the top of the league, but now Arsenal is slipping behind them.

Prior to the international break, defending Premier League champions Liverpool suffered defeats to Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea.
Yorke believes that their most recent defeat to Manchester United is due to the “high expectation” placed on them following their triumph the previous season.
Yorke, speaking exclusively to Football365 on behalf of Escapist Magazine, said of Liverpool: “I think it’s difficult to read too much into it.”
Liverpool has now lost four straight games, which you didn’t witness. It’s simply unheard of. That was a tough one for them, in my opinion, and it proves that you are vulnerable in this league.
If you are not careful, you will lose confidence regardless of how excellent your squad is if you keep losing.
“There is a high expectation of the level when you enter and become champions, so people are simply not performing at that level.”
You are unable to perform the actions. Give credit to the teams that surround them, but don’t pretend that they do. They are being run by them. They are truly manipulating their emotions.
If you don’t put in the effort, you become the target of teams who are pursuing you. You must be careful to keep them at bay.
Although Liverpool won some games in the last minutes of the season and had incredible resiliency, I don’t think they are doing that. You would assume that they would then grow from there.
However, they are observing a weakness in the team. And now that they have won four straight games, it will be intriguing to watch how they respond. To truly perform, you must rely on the experience of your well-known athletes.
It provides everyone hope and a chance to succeed in the league. Because, as you mentioned, we all believed that Liverpool would take off with the new players they had brought in, and they definitely reverted to their initial performance.
And that adds a new level to the whole event, in my opinion. And everyone wants to go win it so they can feel like they’ve been playing well lately.
Due to the Liverpool forward’s subpar performances, Yorke continued, “I think there’s a combination there.” Mohamed Salah has only scored twice in the Premier League this season.
Lack of confidence for someone who has been at the top of the game and the league’s greatest player for a lot of years only demonstrates consistency, but I don’t think there is a single element. How difficult is it to keep up? There is a lot of expectation.
Sadly, once results start to go against you, people will start to factor in your age, notice that you’re not playing as well, and start looking for excuses—even though that’s the same person who has been reliably performing for the past six years.
“I find it difficult to sit here and be critical of Salah. As a fellow attacker, I have nothing but respect for his records and contributions to the game.
And I believe that’s simply because, first, the team isn’t playing as well as they used to, and second, you’re going to lose confidence when that happens.
He also demonstrates that, like all of us, he’s human and that, despite his skill, he’s simply not playing at his best right now.
