Journalist names three potential Mohamed Salah replacements as Liverpool prepare for his Anfield exit

A transfer journalist has identified the three outstanding players that make up Arne Slot’s shortlist of candidates to succeed the talismanic Egyptian frontman, and Liverpool is open to Mo Salah leaving before his contract expires in 2027.
The 33-year-old has made a lasting impression on Liverpool fans by returning his £36.9 million fee from Roma in 2017. He has also won seven major awards during his tenure at Anfield and scored an incredible 248 goals in 411 games for the team.
With a rumoured weekly salary of £400,000, Salah signed a new two-year contract over the summer, making him the highest paid player in their history.

Salah’s long-term future at Anfield is currently in doubt after he received criticism over the weekend for what many have called his worst-ever performance in a Liverpool shirt as Slot’s team lost 2-1 to Chelsea.
After coming close to leaving on multiple occasions in the past, rumors of a move to Saudi Arabia were more prevalent than ever in the summer before he signed a new contract, transfer journalist Graeme Bailey has now suggested that the Egyptian may leave before his current contract expires.
Bailey told Liverpool-focused website Rousing the Kop that Salah was in the “end game” at Anfield and that “they are planning for his succession, whether it’s next year or the year after that.” “I don’t believe it’s a serious concern.
He might leave next summer even if he were playing exceptionally well. They’ll evaluate it; I don’t think it has anything to do with the form.
The reporter continues, “It’s a short-term thing anyway, because he’s on a two-year deal.” It’s never simple or appropriate to let go of these elite athletes.
I don’t think you could rule him out of going next summer, even if he were the finest player in the Premier League at the moment. A sale may work out well for everyone.
“They just invested about £300 million on Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, and Alexander Isak. Three forwards for over a quarter of a billion pounds. For Salah, we have begun the finale; this season might be the penultimate or the final one.
Bailey, however, thinks that Liverpool has three players on its shortlist that are being considered to replace Salah, with Michael Olise of Bayern Munich at the top.
Liverpool creates a list of three players to replace Salah
Since joining Bayern Munich, Olise’s play has elevated him to the top of the world’s right winger rankings, thus it makes sense that the Reds would be eager to get him.
In fact, a bold claim over the weekend stated that when the moment was right, the Reds would be prepared to make a record-breaking deal to outbid their rivals for the Bayern star.
But as Bailey explains, two PSG players are also under Liverpool’s close scrutiny, so he’s not the only star on their radar.
Bailey stated, “I don’t think he’s ready to leave, but Olivia is talking about a new deal at Bayern right now.”
He will be on the agenda of numerous teams, similar to Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue, who have both been linked to Liverpool.
“It would be shocking if they weren’t considered for Olise because they are aware of who is out there and if and when he is available.”
Regarding Salah, we are aware that his departure from Anfield is still up in the air and that his future will be influenced by a number of variables, including how well he performs for Liverpool this season, the transfer price he could command (as opposed to letting him depart for nothing in 2027), and the availability of possible successors.
It is possible that they will consider offers for Salah if they have the chance to get one next year.
But he’s likely to stay at Anfield until his contract expires in June 2027, at which point he’ll ride off into the sunset and embark on one last career journey.
But by then, he will have to have scored a good number of goals to surpass Ian Rush’s 346-goal record, which Salah is presently 98 goals short of.
A Spanish media story claims that Liverpool’s summer transfer window pursuit of a Barcelona player was severely hampered by Luis Suarez’s personal involvement in attempting to persuade him to join Anfield.
David Ornstein has provided the most recent information regarding Liverpool’s efforts to persuade Ibrahima Konate to sign a new deal, as well as the “suspicion” surrounding Real Madrid’s transfer.
Liverpool has been rumoured to target Newcastle United for another of their great players in light of his possible departure, and they have added four additional names to their wishlist for a new defender.
