Chelsea have been encouraged to pursue an ambitious transfer for Kevin De Bruyne amid speculation that the Man City player is interested in moving to MLS club Inter Miami.
De Bruyne, 33, will depart from Man City at the season's conclusion following a fruitful 10-year tenure at the club where he secured six Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, and the Champions League.
Speculation is spreading that the Belgian international is expected to join Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, although he recently stated, “I don’t know what will occur.”
There is also the implication that he might betray his current team by moving across the divide to join rivals Man Utd.
The City midfielder would become part of a stellar lineup featuring Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba at the club owned by David Beckham.
He’s presently listed at 5/6 to join any MLS team, an outcome he questioned with remarks following a 5-2 victory over Crystal Palace.
"I'm uncertain about what the future holds, but I wish to continue playing, so we'll see where it leads me."
"I'm unsure how I'll feel; I've been here for a long time, my family has lived here for a decade, and my kids were born in Manchester and have spent their entire lives here."
"It will be something unique for them." I believe they feel somewhat frightened, thrilled, but it’s also a bit uncertain since we don’t know what will occur at this time.
“However, I wish to have fun and play quality football as I did today, and for everything else, I’ll be okay.” “As long as I can play football and my family is content, I’m fine.”
It is yet to be determined whether Chelsea will deviate from their strategy of acquiring young players to inject essential experience into their team, but ex-Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole believes they ought to offer a blank cheque for De Bruyne.
“If I were Chelsea and I was with them [the board], I would be saying, ‘we require seasoned players’,” he remarked.
“He's had some minor injuries, but his value to the locker room as a winner and leader is significant; we might only require him for 30 games a year, and we can handle his management.”
"Picture him entering the room alongside those young athletes during those challenging times." I would say, "Anything you need, we’ll write it off." "Join us and play for two years."
De Bruyne was with the West London club for two seasons from 2012 to 2014, making only three appearances before transferring to Wolfsburg for around £18 million.
A year later, Man City acquired him for the significantly higher fee of £55 million, but as his 10-year period at the Etihad Stadium nears its conclusion, it appears we might not have witnessed the final chapter of Kevin De Bruyne in the Premier League.
