Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Mikel Arteta outlines the strategy for Arsenal to defeat Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals

• Arsenal will meet Real Madrid in the upcoming round of the Champions League.

• Two pre-tournament favorites still struggling to meet expectations this season.

• Arteta foresees a close encounter between two elite teams.

Mikel Arteta has cautioned Arsenal that they need to perform at their highest level to overcome Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Having smoothly navigated their last 16 matchup against PSV Eindhoven, Arsenal must now brace themselves to face the defending European champions after Madrid triumphed in their contentious encounter with Atletico.

Urging Arsenal supporters to vocalize their presence at the Emirates, Arteta recognized that instances of personal excellence will probably determine which team advances to the next stage of the Champions League.

"The foremost requirement is that you must perform at your peak during both games, for every single minute," he cautioned. "Don't reveal anything, as they will seize it."

"Ultimately, the outcome of the game will be determined in the boxes; individual skills and performances are vital, and it’s essential to generate an incredible atmosphere when we get to play at home."

It is certainly a challenging matchup for Arsenal, but Arteta is excited about it as he seeks to reestablish the Gunners as one of Europe's top teams once more.

"We have reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the second straight season, and we must acknowledge that accomplishing this is quite challenging," he added. "We are ready to take the next step."

"It matters to us, as we aim to succeed, since the club requires it; we are a club that strives to be the best and compete with the top in the world."

"Achieving this requires consistent presence, which is quite challenging. We have managed it for two consecutive years, and we possess the capability and skills to improve further."
