Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Chelsea confirm surprising acquisition of major Man Utd transfer

• Chelsea has outmaneuvered Man Utd to secure the signing of Sporting CP's Geovany Quenda.

• The young winger was said to be a primary target for United manager Ruben Amorim.

• Quenda will remain in Portugal on loan prior to joining Chelsea in 2026.

Chelsea have reached an agreement to acquire Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda, ahead of Manchester United, according to reports.

Quenda experienced a significant advancement under Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim at Sporting, and many anticipated he would join the coach at United this summer.

Unexpectedly, Chelsea have come in to finalize a deal. The announcement of the deal was initially disclosed by Rising Stars XI, followed by confirmations from Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic, among others, that Quenda was moving to Chelsea.

It’s an impressive action from the Blues, who have finalized a transfer for Quenda, involving a medical, quietly in the background.

Chelsea is said to have spent around €45m-€50m (£37.8m-£42m) to finalize this agreement - a similar fee that United intended to offer when they initially looked into a deal for the 17-year-old in January.

Quenda will continue with Sporting for the 2025/26 season prior to transferring to Stamford Bridge. It is uncertain if he will occupy an international loan position or if a transfer has just been arranged for later.

A natural right winger, Quenda has had his most significant influence under Amorim as a wing-back, though he has also played extensively on the left wing in recent weeks. Chelsea reportedly view him as a "true winger" capable of playing on both flanks.

Chelsea are in the process of getting ready to greet Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian at Stamford Bridge this summer. The first player, an attacking midfielder, is set to arrive for approximately £17m, while the winger Estevao's move may exceed £50m if all bonuses are activated.

Estevao, similar to Quenda, is typically positioned on the right flank; however, there are indications that the young Brazilian might be utilized in a more central position when he relocates to England.

Well-regarded goalkeeper Mike Penders will also sign with Chelsea this summer in a transaction valued at £17m.
