Reports indicate that it would require an ‘eye-watering’ sum for Man Utd to dismiss Ruben Amorim this summer if they opt for a change.
The Red Devils are enduring a dismal season with INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe deciding to dismiss Erik ten Hag and appoint Amorim in November.
Man Utd currently ranks 15th in the Premier League, nearer to the relegation zone than the top four, and Amorim is facing intense pressure to improve results and performances.
Under Amorim, the results have been poorer than during Ten Hag's tenure at Old Trafford, with Man Utd securing only four victories in his initial 15 Premier League games in charge.
Rumours suggest that Amorim might be dismissed if results don’t enhance, but numerous reports confirm the Portuguese head coach will certainly remain until at least the season’s conclusion.
However, The Sun claims that Man Utd 'will encounter a staggering £12million cost’ because the Red Devils’ head coach is ‘believed to have an unbreakable clause in his contract — indicating he receives the rest of his 2½-year deal compensated if he is ever dismissed.’
The paper emphasizes that there is ‘no indication that embattled co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe intends to dismiss the Portuguese’, but warns that ‘should conditions worsen for a squad Amorim described as “the worst” in United's history, he would leave with whatever remains of his £6m-per-year contract’.
Man Utd rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a point in a 2-2 tie over the weekend and will aim to move up the standings when they take on Ipswich Town at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.
Looking back at their draw with Everton on Saturday, Amorim shared in a press conference: “It’s tough, it’s tough when we analyze the match. I understand that both you all and the players recognize that we were lacking in intensity. We make slight improvements in the second half, particularly in the small aspects – such as second balls, as we didn’t give away as many possessions under no pressure.
"We became more assertive, both in our defense and while controlling the ball." We altered the energy with which we approach football, so I comprehend all the criticism. “If you observe the game, you must accept it and attempt to alter that.”
Amorim stated: “Yes, from the moment I started, I anticipated winning every home game, and that’s the mindset I have.” I don’t sense the pressure, I don’t sense it. Once more, the fans are incredible. I don't sense it.
Whenever you attend a match at Old Trafford, you sense the backing right to the finish. At times, you have a single play in a half, and occasionally it feels like the fans desire this intensely, so I don’t sense the pressure, and we must avoid dwelling on previous matches. "It could be a fresh game, it could be a new narrative, so let’s move ahead and enjoy the game.”
