Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Casemiro discloses his involvement in Kylian Mbappe's transfer to Real Madrid

• Kylian Mbappe amazed Real Madrid while representing PSG in 2022.

• Casemiro encouraged the club to chase after the Frenchman following the final whistle.

• The agreement was finally reached in the summer of 2024.

Casemiro disclosed the part he played in Kylian Mbappe's eventual move to Real Madrid, having been impressed by the French striker during a meeting over two years prior.

Mbappe has found his rhythm for Madrid since the beginning of the year, acknowledging that he experienced a "rock bottom" situation with a penalty miss in December. The 25-year-old has scored 25 goals in total competitions and seems likely to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo's debut number (33) from 2009/10.

While playing for Real Madrid, Casemiro confronted Mbappe several times in matches against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The initial encounter took place during a two-legged round of 16 match in 2018 while Mbappe was still in his teens. Next, in the spring of 2022, the Frenchman netted a goal in a 1-0 PSG victory in Paris, edging closer to being considered the best player in the world.

"I'll share one thing with you." "Mbappe is a player you can't stop," Casemiro told AS.

Reflecting on the 2022 conference, the Brazilian remembered: "He performed all actions towards us." We were defeated 1-0 by a goal from him, but it was wild. He's the type of player who will be remembered in football history. We cannot request that he consistently achieve a 9. However, he never drops below 7.5 or 8. "He's pampered us."

Casemiro then verified a report stating that he later contacted Real Madrid's president Florentino Perez, advocating for the club to secure Mbappe's signing.

"Later I talked to the president and said to him: 'Hire him.'" 'It's not possible to put an end to him.' "He's one of those players that when you're up against him, you find it hard to figure out how to contain him," the veteran remarked.

"He's not on the podium right now, but he will make it." He is the successor to the three giants [Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Neymar], alongside Vinicius, who keeps developing and enhancing his performance in every match, Rodrygo, and Fede Valverde, a player who guides the team and has the potential to define an era.

Mbappe is well known for rejecting Madrid in the summer of 2022, choosing instead to renew his contract with PSG. However, after the player chose to exit Parc des Princes as a free agent at the conclusion of those terms two years later, Madrid became the sole viable destination.
