According to several sources, Tottenham Hotspur does not currently have any plans to replace Ange Postecoglou as manager.
In the first half of Sunday's Premier League match, Everton dominated Tottenham, and Postecoglou watched glumly from the touchline. Spurs' decision to play three at the back back backfired spectacularly, as the Toffees, who recently rehired David Moyes for a second stint in charge, were 3-0 up and cruising before halftime at Goodison Park.
The second half was improved by switching back to a classic back four, as goals from Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski at least made the scoreline reasonable. However, Spurs were unable to find an equalizer and lost for the 12th time this season in the Premier League.
Despite growing social media pressure on Postecoglou, who has come off as abrasive in recent press conferences and interviews, football.london was the first to disclose that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has no immediate plans to fire the 59-year-old.
Crucial defenders Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have combined for 1,752 Premier League minutes this season, which is only 44% of the 3,960 minutes that might have been played if both players had played every minute of the campaign.
After breaking a bone in his foot during Spurs' resounding 4-0 victory over Manchester City in November, first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has also missed the team's past ten Premier League games; the only victory the team has had since was against Southampton, who are at the bottom of the table. Each of those players would have been in the matchday squad if they were healthy.
Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, Destiny Udogie, and Yves Bissouma were also out for the trip to Everton, with the latter suffering a knee injury in the middle of the week to compound Spurs' problems.
"I have the responsibility of the group of players I do have, to try and get us through this, and that's what I've got to focus on," Postecoglou told reporters following the loss.
"This is not about me, but what is about me right now..." "I am avoiding my responsibilities if I concentrate on anything else. All I want is to get us out of this situation. Due to the fact that we are asking 18-year-olds to perform some extremely demanding tasks, the club is making every effort to aid the players rather than myself.
"We had a 17-year-old on the field working to secure victories in football for us." "And others who are merely participating each week, so, it's really about assisting the players rather than assisting myself."
Due to their terrible run of performances, Spurs are now in 15th place in the Premier League standings, much closer to the relegation zone than they were to their preseason goal of finishing in the top four. Spurs have the best goal differential in the bottom half, though, by a considerable amount. Their +10 goal differential is in stark contrast to West Ham's, who are one spot above them in the standings yet have a -16 goal differential.
