Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Ruben Amorim begs Marcus Rashford to reconsider Man Utd's exile.

Ruben Amorim has challenged Marcus Rashford to improve his game and push his way back into the starting lineup after acknowledging that Manchester United lacks the forward's skill in front of goal.

Rashford has not impressed Amorim behind the scenes at United, and it was recently claimed that the two are no longer communicating as a result of the head coach's most recent critique of his forward's training standards.

With Rashford out of the lineup, United's results have been inconsistent, and Amorim has acknowledged that he wants someone with his skills to assist in attack as soon as feasible.

"Our team should be so much better with Rashford," Amorim stated. However, he needs to change. We need a talented player like Rashford, therefore we're more than welcome to bring him in if he changes.

"I believe it's really obvious right now that we need to establish some guidelines. If Marcus wants it badly enough, we are waiting for him.

"I have nothing against Marcus; [the media] tries to make it personal, but it's not. I have to establish the same guidelines for everyone, and for me, they are always the same and extremely straightforward."

Amorim clarified his statement that he would prefer to start 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital over Rashford by saying: "Every player faces the same challenges, and when I discussed that in the previous game, I said that I would not start any player who doesn't give their best effort.

"We require goals, we need one-on-ones, we need danger in the attacking third."

It's the same situation since I didn't declare that I wouldn't place Marcus Rashford. I'll put any player to play when I think it's appropriate.

"It's obvious that Rashford makes us a stronger team. He has a lot of talent, but I won't change my view until the perfect time comes. The response is always the same.
