Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Pep looks at the former Aston Villa player as Man City "advance" on their "spectacular £250m transfer splurge."

According to sources, Man City plans to spend up to £250 million during the January transfer window in order to add fresh players to their roster for Pep Guardiola.

Prior to their game against Ipswich Town on Sunday, the reigning champions are now ranked seventh in the Premier League, which has been a difficult season for the Citizens.

Guardiola has appeared incredibly anxious at times this season as a result of Rodri's injury earlier in the season, which has severely hurt their chances of winning the championship.

In addition to missing the Ballon d'Or winner and Spain international, several of Man City's dependable senior players have been struggling this season.

Guardiola is now searching for a January makeover in order to add up to six new players before the transfer window closes.

According to the Daily Mirror, Man City is already nearing agreements for Vitor Reis of Palmeiras, Abdukokir Khusanov of Lens, and Omar Marmoush of Eintract Frankfurt, but there may be more to come.

According to the report :

Following a massive declaration of intent that saw back-to-back Golden Boot winners Erling Haaland sign a nine-and-a-half-year contract extension that will see him bank a salary package of £240 million, City manager Pep Guardiola is the driving force behind a spectacular £250 million transfer window splurge that could bring up to six new faces to the Etihad this month.

The champions have abandoned their plan to hold off until Hugo Viana, the new director of football, is formally appointed in the summer.

However, Viana has been assisting current dealmaker Txiki Begeristain as the Blues finalize deals for Brazilian teenage center-back Vitor Reis of Palmeiras and Juventus' Italian international full-back Andrea Cambiaso at a cost of nearly £190 million, Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush of Eintracht Frankfurt, and Lens' Uzbekistan defender Abdukodir Khusanov.

Claudio Echeverri, a teenage Argentine playmaker, is already scheduled to arrive in the city following the South American Under-20 Championships next month. Despite the fact that only three new players can be registered for the Champions League, Guardioila also wants a new defensive pillar.

Man City is "considering whether to continue their January recruitment by adding a midfielder to manager Pep Guardiola's squad," according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Douglas Luiz, a former Aston Villa player, is reportedly one of the names being considered by Man City as they "explore multiple options" to strengthen their midfield for the final five months of the season.

Ornstein continues :

While their Italian opponents now want a sale or loan with a commitment to buy, City would like to get Luiz on loan until the end of this season, with no purchase obligation.

Therefore, it would only benefit the Premier League team if Juventus' position changed prior to the transfer deadline of February 3. Although Luiz is not City's sole objective, they are considering him in case they choose to bolster their position.
