Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Manchester United adds RB Salzburg's winger to their transfer wish list.

According to reports, Manchester United has started preliminary discussions over a potential deal for Nene Dorgeles, a forward for RB Salzburg.

At the beginning of 2021, the Mali international left Guidars FC in his own country to join the Austrian powerhouses. The left winger with the right foot started to establish himself in Salzburg's first squad after three loan stints in two and a half years.

Nene has been a mainstay of the first squad this season after a season of adjustment that nonetheless resulted in five goals in the top tier. Despite Salzburg's miserable season, which resulted in manager Pep Lijnders' quick dismissal in December, Nene has already eclipsed his goal total from the previous campaign.

Manchester United has expressed interest in the 22-year-old after he finished 2024 with five direct goal contributions in three league games, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Nene has apparently been added on the Premier League team's transfer shortlist; a move in January or next summer is both possible. Initial discussions over a transfer price have already taken place between the two teams.

Salzburg's asking price will determine United's future interest in Nene. Since taking over as 'Head of Global Soccer' in January, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been in charge of the first club in Red Bull's football empire. Klopp has a history of selling their young players.

To mention just three, former Reds forward Sadio Mane, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, and Manchester City's Erling Haaland all attended the Austrian training camp before joining the Premier League.
