Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Man City plans to bid €65 million to replace Kyle Walker.

According to reports, Manchester City has prepared a bid for Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso that is close to €65 million (£54.7 million).

During the winter transfer window, the defending Premier League winners have been remarkably active. City has traditionally used January to acquire young diamonds, frequently from South America, and then promptly loan them out. No winter signing has been immediately assimilated into City's starting lineup since Aymeric Laporte's debut in 2018.

Extreme measures have been necessary in desperate circumstances. Both at home and on the continent, Pep Guardiola's fallen titans are in a precarious position. Following a brief post-Christmas comeback, City's recently discovered vulnerability was once again revealed on Tuesday when they allowed two goals in the last eight minutes of a 2-2 tie with Brentford.

The club has ventured into uncharted transfer market area as a result of this turmoil. This month, City has already arranged three signings totaling far more than £100 million. Omar Marmoush of Eintracht Frankfurt is anticipated to join Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov, the center-backs, at the Etihad.

However, the spending binge doesn't end there.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, City is preparing an opening bid of €60–65 million (£50–55 million) for Andrea Cambiaso, a versatile defender for Juventus. However, if the Italy international is to leave Turin in January, the Serie A powerhouses are reportedly going to seek up to €80 million (£67 million).

The high price tag, which exceeds what City is anticipated to pay for Khusanov and Reis combined, is meant to deter any interest in a mid-season move and might be cut the following summer.

Despite the fact that Cambiaso, 24, mostly plays on the left side of defense, the Telegraph claims that City sees him as a long-term alternative for Kyle Walker. Given that Guardiola disclosed the defender's wish to depart, City's seasoned right-back may be traveling to Italy this month. The Sky Blues would be willing to wait until next summer to sign Cambiaso, who might only cost about £50 million by then, according to the English daily.

Fabrizio Romano claims that no bid has been made as of yet and that a deal for Marmoush is the "priority" that must be reached before any more talks for Cambiaso can start.
