Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Man Utd - Premier League

"Liverpool prepare to host arch-rivals Manchester United in a highly-anticipated Premier League showdown.
As Jurgen Klopp's side aim to bounce back from recent setbacks, the Reds' team selection will be crucial.

Here's a predicted lineup for Liverpool as they look to secure a vital win against their bitter foes and reignite their top-four challenge."

If Liverpool defeats the dejected Red Devils on Sunday, they would move an incredible 26 points clear of rivals Manchester United.

In his first half-season at Anfield, Arne Slot has led his team to the top of the table and has only suffered one loss throughout his remarkable reign. He has already secured a 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League.

Here is how Slot could line his Liverpool side up for a crucial fixture.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Man Utd [4-2-3-1]

GK: Alisson – With five straight clean sheets in home games against Manchester United, Liverpool's goalie is among the finest in the world, if not the best. He will bet on a sixth on Sunday, since the Red Devils have lost their last three games.

LB: Andy Robertson – The Scotsman has received legitimate criticism this season, but Slot still supports him. If Kostas Tsimikas were to take his place this weekend, it would be bold of the Dutchman.

CB: Virgil van Dijk – The idea of playing Rasmus Hojlund or his countryman Joshua Zirkzee won't worry Liverpool's captain, who has been imposing this season.

CB: Ibrahim Konate – The match on Sunday might be too soon for Ibrahima Konate, who has resumed full training. Young Quansah might be called up at Anfield as Joe Gomez is expected to miss several weeks due to a hamstring injury.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – Although there has been much debate regarding his future at Liverpool, his performance against West Ham the previous game perfectly captures why he is so important to the Reds. Both in his own half and the last third, he put on an outstanding performance.

DM: Alexis Mac Allister – Mac Allister scored against Manchester United in the FA Cup last season and has two goals and two assists in his past three games. Controlling the midfield fight against unpersuasive opponents will be crucial for the Argentinean.

DM: Ryan Gravenberch – This season, Liverpool's Dutch players have all shone, with Gravenberch serving as the team's midfield leader. The youthful midfielder is still developing in his new defensive position.

LW: Cody Gakpo – Gakpo scored his 11th goal of the season against the Hammers last weekend, putting him on the scoresheet once more. He will be eager to get another double against Manchester United, like he did in the 7-0 thumping in 2022–2023, having scored two in his previous two games.

AM: Dominik Szoboszlai – Due to suspension, the Hungary international missed the West Ham triumph, but he will be back on Sunday. He and Curtis Jones will compete for a starting position against Manchester United.

RW: Mohammed Salah – Salah gave a worrying update regarding his future at Liverpool, but it won't have an impact on his on-field performance against Manchester United. In 16 games against the Red Devils, he has 15 goals and six assists.

ST: Luiz Diaz – Diogo Jota's return has been warmly received, but Diaz is in such amazing form that he just cannot be let go. He is ready to take advantage of a weak Red Devils defense because he has scored three goals in his last two games.
