Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Enzo Maresca offers a concerning injury update for the Chelsea midfield duo.

After Chelsea's victory over Wolves in the Premier League on Monday night, manager Enzo Maresca provided a worrying injury report regarding the absence of midfielders Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez.

With three points that moved them back into the top four of the table, it was a significant win for Chelsea, their first in the league in more than a month.

However, because both Fernandez and Lavia were unavailable after the previous game, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who was otherwise out of favor, was given his first Premier League start for the team.

Against Bournemouth, the two had started together in midfield, with Lavia earning his opportunity due to Moises Caicedo's temporary switch to right-back. However, they both developed muscle problems that prevented them from attending Wolves' visit to Stamford Bridge.

Lavia is dealing with a more significant issue. The most alarming part, however, is that Maresca acknowledged that there was still no estimated time range for any of their recoveries, even a few days later.

When he informed reporters, "Romeo is more important than Enzo," "The duration of their absence is still unknown. I hope it won't be too long. [It's] a muscle issue or weariness. We must wait a short while. Both were in opposition to Bournemouth.

Although club captain Reece James returned to the starting lineup on Monday and made an impression against Matheus Cunha, Fernandez has been leading Chelsea for the majority of the season. Lavia played a string of games in October and November, but regrettably, it was only his first Premier League appearance since he recovered from a prior hamstring injury against Bournemouth.

Without Lavia and Fernandez, Chelsea's midfield depth is limited. Due to concerns about whether Dewsbury-Hall is up to par, there were no backup midfielders on the bench on Monday night.

Fortunately, Levi Colwill has been deemed "better now" and should be able to play against Manchester City on Saturday. Defenders Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana are still sidelined.
