Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Chelsea's expected lineup for their Premier League match against Bournemouth

The Chelsea supporters would undoubtedly be happy with the most turgid of victories over Bournemouth on Tuesday night, even though they have witnessed enough of thrashings this season.

The Blues have lost their last four Premier League games going into their next matchup with Bournemouth. After a difficult couple of weeks, a 5-0 thumping of EFL opponents over the weekend brought some smiles back to faces, but if their winless league streak continues against the Cherries, frowns will return.

Despite the comfort of Chelsea's triumph, Tinkerman Maresca made a lot of rotations for the weekend's visit from Morecambe, and major changes are anticipated once more.

The Blues could lineup like this.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Bournemouth [4-2-3-1]

GK: Robert Sanchez – To unseat Sanchez as Chelsea's top player, Filip Jorgensen will need to do a bit more than keep clean sheets against Morecambe.

LB: Marc Cucurella – Cucurella was not in danger from Renato Veiga, but the summer visitor is expected to leave soon nonetheless. One of Maresca's favorites is the Spaniard.

CB: Levi Colwill – Colwill (1,709) has played more minutes than any other Chelsea player this season, yet the center-back has only started Premier League games.

CB: Tosin Adarabioyo – The Bosman arrival has been a good addition to this Chelsea side and has successfully filled in for Wesley Fofana over the past month. The towering center-half had a great weekend, scoring an extremely rare brace.

RB: Malo Gusto – On Saturday, Reece James returned to the starting lineup and might play in the middle of the week. Maresca will need to exercise caution with his captain, though, considering his injury problems.

CM: Enzo Fernandez – With Lavia just recovered from yet another injury setback, Maresca will soon bring the Caicedo x Lavia pivot back to the Premier League. However, Fernandez will start alongside Caicedo on Tuesday, and the midfielder will be gradually brought back in, just like James.

CM: Moises Caicedo – The Chelsea player who has been utilized the most this season is Caicedo, whose importance to the Blues has grown in the second season. He ended 2023–2024 with a goal from the halfway line in this match.

LM: Jadon Sancho – Although Sancho has become Maresca's preferred choice down the left flank, it will require an increase in output to please the team's picky supporters. This season, the winger has contributed eight goals.

AM: Cole Palmer – The bulk of Chelsea's team benefited Palmer, and Maresca kept his brilliance for this contest. Despite the Blues' recent slump, the English playmaker has contributed 19 goals in 20 appearances this season.

RM: Pedro Neto – Few teams will retain their position from Saturday's victory, but Neto may given Noni Madueke's illness.

ST: Nicolas Jackson – The attacker for Chelsea has been struggling for the previous month and is in dire need of a goal. Perhaps Maresca ought to have given him some playing time over the weekend, but instead he comes into Tuesday's match feeling rejuvenated and goal-shy.
